The Hisbah Board in Kano State has taken a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, into custody for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate act involving a goat, which was captured in a video that gained significant attention on TikTok.

According to information obtained by Drivetvnews on Thursday, Yakubu was apprehended on Tuesday after being seen in the viral video directing another individual to record him as he allegedly performed a lewd act with the animal.

The footage, which sparked widespread outrage on social media, shows Yakubu reportedly stating that his actions were driven by a desire to gain popularity online.

“I just wanted to go viral and become famous,” he allegedly confessed in the clip.

Concerned members of the community, disturbed by the content of the video, were reportedly on the verge of attacking Yakubu before a local leader stepped in and reported the matter to the Hisbah Board.

While being interrogated by the board’s officials, Yakubu denied the specific allegation of licking the goat’s genitals.

“I swear by Allah, I didn’t lick it. I only placed my mouth close to the area,” he claimed. “I’ve never done anything like this before. I was fully aware of my actions, but this is the first time, and I won’t repeat it.”

Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar, Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, expressed deep concern over the incident.

“It is disheartening to see a Muslim engaging in such behavior, showing disregard for both religious and moral values,” he said.

He criticized the suspect’s apparent obsession with social media fame, emphasizing the need for a psychological and drug evaluation to determine his mental state.

“We’ve ordered assessments to be conducted to understand his condition better,” Sheikh Aminuddeen stated.

The board also announced plans to have the goat examined by a veterinarian.

“We’ll take the animal to a vet clinic to check for any infections possibly transmitted during the incident. The suspect will undergo medical testing as well before we proceed with legal actions,” he added.

Issuing a stern warning, Sheikh Aminuddeen cautioned others against engaging in such acts for internet attention.

“Anyone found performing degrading acts, such as covering themselves in filth or other bizarre stunts for fame, will be apprehended and face strict consequences,” he warned.
