A devastating car crash on Saturday evening in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and left others injured.

The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m., involved a head-on collision between two Volkswagen Golf 3 saloon cars.

In a statement issued by the Jigawa State Police Command, the spokesperson, DSP Shiisu Adam, explained that one of the vehicles, with registration number MKA 687 AY, was driven by 35-year-old Adamu Sunusi from Hadejia Local Government Area. He was traveling from Abuja to Gujungu. The second vehicle, registered as KWL 606 KA, was driven by 30-year-old Bashari Danjummai from the Sauna area of Nassarawa Local Government Area in Kano State. He was on his way to Kano from Hadejia.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Motor Traffic Department quickly responded to the scene and assisted the victims. Those who sustained injuries were transported to Ringim General Hospital for medical attention.

Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed that nine people, including both drivers, had died. Eleven others are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be responding well.

Authorities are working to identify all victims and inform their families. The police assured the public that further updates would be provided as the investigation continues.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmad Abdullahi, expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery. He also advised motorists to follow traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to help prevent future accidents.
