The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent messages circulating about an ongoing recruitment into paramilitary agencies under its jurisdiction.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Board’s Secretary, retired Major General A.M. Jibril, the CDCFIB clarified that a letter currently being shared on various social media platforms contains misleading information about the recruitment process.
Although President Bola Tinubu has approved the hiring of 30,150 new personnel across four paramilitary agencies, along with 209 positions within the CDCFIB Secretariat, the Board emphasized that the official recruitment exercise has not yet begun.
Jibril noted that the Board is in the process of securing a waiver to shorten the usual six-week advertising requirement in national newspapers to three weeks. This measure aims to expedite the recruitment process.
“To be clear, all official recruitment announcements will be published in reputable national newspapers. The process will be merit-based, transparent, and entirely free of charge,” the statement affirmed.
The approved recruitment numbers are as follows:
- Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 5,150 personnel
- Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 10,000 personnel
- Federal Fire Service (FFS): 10,000 personnel
- Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 5,000 personnel
- CDCFIB Secretariat: 209 personnel
The Board urged applicants and the general public to remain cautious and avoid falling victim to fraudulent individuals spreading false information and soliciting money in the name of recruitment.
It further advised citizens to report any suspicious recruitment-related activities or individuals demanding payment.
The CDCFIB reaffirmed its dedication to a fair, transparent, and lawful recruitment process.
