Four individuals from Akpoha Autonomous Community in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were abducted on July 24 while tending to their farms. The incident, carried out by unidentified assailants, has sparked heightened security concerns among residents.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, Joshua Ukandu, stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Afikpo Division had already reported the matter to the command, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Ukandu said, “I contacted the DPO, and he confirmed that officers had visited the scene to gather facts and assess the situation. A thorough investigation is underway, and efforts are being made—alongside community and traditional leaders—to uncover the motive and ensure the safe return of the victims.”
He added that further details would be made public upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
