Renowned singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, shared a story about being undervalued due to his excessive humility in a video circulating on social media.
During a conversation with friends, Asake highlighted the perception that being overly humble could lead to people taking advantage. He suggested that displaying some level of self-importance might garner more respect, explaining that when someone appears self-assured, they are often seen as more valuable.
Expressing his perspective, Asake mentioned, “For me, excessive humility seems futile. It’s often underappreciated. Ultimately, life revolves around individual perceptions. That’s my viewpoint. I’ve been in situations where I attempted to showcase humility, but it wasn’t recognized. As an artist, if you approach situations with humility, sometimes people might overlook your worth. However, if you assert yourself, they might perceive you as less accessible, which tends to garner more admiration. People seem to prioritize observing your actions rather than you demonstrating humility. Therefore, focus on doing what’s necessary.”
