Controversial transgender Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for offenses including the abuse, spraying, and mutilation of the Nigerian currency.
Bobrisky’s arrest, which occurred in Lagos on Wednesday night, follows a series of controversies surrounding the social media personality. Currently held at the Lagos Command of the EFCC, Bobrisky’s detention was confirmed by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a telephone interview on Thursday.
Oyewale emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating, “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.”
Highlighting the EFCC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the Nigerian currency, Oyewale indicated that while investigations are ongoing, Bobrisky will be brought before the court in due course.
