Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, recently disclosed during an Instagram Live session that he was encouraged to feud with his senior colleague, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. The ‘Zazu’ crooner, currently in the United States, shared this revelation after Davido extended an invitation to hang out with him.
Portable revealed that he declined to engage in conflict with Davido because the DMW boss had previously helped him. He emphasized his loyalty to those who have supported him, stating that Davido has been a source of blessings in his life.
He said, “Don’t fight your helper. They pushed me to fight with Davido but I didn’t listen to them because I’m loyal to my helper. Once I see Davido I’m blessed.”
Meanwhile, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie clarified that he has no issues with Nigerian Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. Sarkodie’s recent song ‘Brag’ caused some controversy by claiming he had been in the music industry before Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
This led to tensions between Dremo, a former signee of Davido, and Lyrical Joe, who is signed to Sarkodie’s label, as both artists released diss tracks against each other daily.
In an interview with RODE, Sarkodie explained that his mention of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy in his song was simply to highlight his long-standing presence in the music industry. He further clarified that if he wanted to take shots at someone, it would have been at fellow rappers, not singers.
