A young British-Nigerian woman, Tamilore Odunsi, 23, was tragically found dead in her Houston apartment just days before she was scheduled to graduate as a nurse.
Odunsi had moved from London to Texas in 2022 to pursue a nursing degree. Police discovered her body in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds after forcing entry into her apartment. The welfare check was requested by a family friend who had been unable to contact her.
Inside the same apartment, officers also found a man—believed to be a recently arrived roommate—in critical condition with knife-related injuries. Reports indicate that the two were strangers who had only recently begun sharing the space. Authorities suspect foul play, although the circumstances remain unclear.
Tamilore, who went by the name “Tami Dollars” on TikTok, had a growing online presence with over 30,000 followers and more than three million likes. Her final post, uploaded on April 21, showed her smiling with a caption expressing excitement about her upcoming graduation.
In response to her death, Tamilore’s sister, Georgina Odunsi, launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate her body to the UK. Describing her as a vibrant and compassionate person, Georgina shared that Tamilore was a dedicated Christian active in her church, with aspirations to improve lives through her work in healthcare.
“Tami was full of life, love, and purpose. She was taken from us just before achieving a major milestone,” Georgina wrote in the fundraiser. The campaign has already raised more than £28,000 of its £40,000 goal to ensure a dignified farewell in her home country.
The incident has sparked outrage and sorrow across social media, with many demanding justice and a thorough investigation. As of now, the Houston Police Department has not released additional information regarding suspects or potential charges.
