A landlord at Unity Estate in the Alagbole-Akute area of Ogun State narrowly escaped death on Tuesday after a telecommunications mast toppled onto his house amid a heavy downpour, causing significant damage to parts of the building.
According to reports, the landlord was inside the building when the incident occurred. He sustained minor injuries and has since received medical treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.
Odutola stated that the command received an emergency call around 2:39 p.m. on Tuesday from a resident identified as Mr. Moses Olalere, who reported the collapse of the mast during the storm.
“In the report received on June 3, 2025, at approximately 2:39 p.m., Mr. Moses Olalere informed the police about a natural disaster resulting from heavy rainfall.
