Dangote Group expresses sorrow over Ruth Otabor’s death, detailing medical support and pledging stronger safety measures after the tragic road accident.

The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ruth Otabor, who suffered severe injuries in a recent accident involving one of its trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the company conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Otabor family and assured the public of its dedication to safety and compassionate support for victims.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in a recent road incident involving one of our trucks. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this time of grief,” the statement read.

Medical Assistance and Support

The company explained that from the time of the accident, it had been responsible for covering Ruth’s medical expenses and had been working closely with its insurance partners to support the family financially and emotionally.

Plans had also been finalized to move her to India for advanced medical care once doctors approved the transfer. Sadly, she passed away before the arrangements could be executed.

Dangote Group reiterated that safety and accountability remain central to its operations, promising to strengthen measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

“Safety, accountability, and compassion are key to everything we do. We will continue improving our safety systems while extending support to those affected by such incidents. May her soul rest in peace,” the company stated.
