Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared confidence in winning a second term in the 2026 governorship election, insisting no opposition candidate stands a chance against him.
Speaking before the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship screening panel in Abuja on Thursday, Adeleke said his administration’s performance and popularity have strengthened public trust, giving him a solid path to re-election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Osun governorship poll for August 8, 2026, with party primaries scheduled for November 24 to December 15, 2025.
Adeleke stressed that the PDP in Osun remains unified and has delivered meaningful progress in the state.
According to him, “There are no internal disputes here. The Osun PDP is one strong family, and our leadership and development record speak for us.”
He highlighted the transparency of his administration, stating that residents can verify government achievements easily due to technology-driven governance.
Adeleke added that his past victory against an incumbent governor proves his electoral strength, and with his track record now visible, winning again will be even easier. “In less than two years, we’ve recorded remarkable progress. I am certain no one can defeat us,” he said.
Expressing readiness to face the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Adeleke said he enjoys widespread goodwill across political divides. “Why should I be worried? I am well loved across Osun, even by APC members. Everywhere I go, I receive support and encouragement,” he remarked.
He also expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure a free and credible election. “I believe the President will avoid anything that could damage his government’s image,” he said.
Adeleke concluded by pledging continued development across Osun State, saying his administration will maintain momentum and deliver more projects.
