A Nigerian truck driver living in Arlington, Texas, Bode Ologan, has been discovered dead inside his truck, sparking concern among friends, relatives, and members of the Nigerian community in the United States.

The earliest public notice came through a Facebook post shared on the Lagos Reporters page by a user, Ibrahim Abolore, who posted Ologan’s driving licence and appealed for help in tracing his family. The message stated that Ologan was found lifeless in his truck in Texas and urged anyone who knew his relatives to come forward.

Further inquiries revealed that the incident occurred on November 7. Friends of the deceased have since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support funeral expenses. The organiser, Omolade Adeduro, described Ologan as a father of three and expressed the family’s grief over his sudden passing.

The fundraiser explained that he left behind three children—Semilore, Semilogo, and Semilola—and appealed for donations to cover burial arrangements and other essential needs. As of Sunday, the campaign had raised $4,717 from 16 donors toward a $30,000 target. The burial is expected to take place on November 20.

Tributes have continued to flow from friends, acquaintances, and members of the Arlington community. One mourner, Emem Akpabio, wrote that she had previously worked with Ologan during a custody case involving his children and expressed sorrow over his death. Another resident, Josely Pueten, who said Ologan had been her apartment tenant, shared her condolences, while others expressed shock and prayed for his children.

Sympathisers on Instagram also noted the risks associated with truck driving, describing it as a demanding and dangerous occupation.

This case adds to a growing list of tragic reports involving Nigerians abroad. Earlier in the year, another case surfaced involving a Nigerian student, Ross Ogbeinde, who died in the United Kingdom, prompting his family to seek public support for his burial.
