Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old man, Dare Shogaolu, popularly known as “Super M,” during a stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of Lagos.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday. She explained that the suspect was intercepted after officers noticed him behaving suspiciously while carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.
According to the statement, members of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team from the Mushin Division were conducting routine patrol along the LUTH Road area at about 10 p.m. on March 5 when they stopped the suspect for questioning.
A search of the bag reportedly led to the discovery of a locally made pistol. Officers also recovered several other items from the suspect, including a black leather purse, charms, and three pairs of slippers.
Police said preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect may have been involved in criminal activities within the community and had allegedly been linked to disturbances in the area.
Shogaolu is currently being held in police custody while investigations continue. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals believed to be connected to his activities.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and maintaining safety across the state.
