A Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has criticised Sunday Adeyemo, urging him to focus on tackling insecurity in Kwara State instead of allegedly intimidating individuals over political differences.

In a statement released by its convener, Olusola Badero, and signed by Princess Balogun, the group accused Igboho of threatening Yoruba citizens who do not share his political views, particularly those opposed to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The union described this behaviour as inconsistent with his earlier claims of fighting for the liberation of the Yoruba people.

The group also expressed concern that Igboho, who once opposed Tinubu’s presidential ambition, now supports the administration while insecurity continues to affect parts of the region. It alleged that he has remained silent on incidents of kidnapping and killings involving Yoruba residents who disagree with him.

According to the statement, Igboho had recently warned that political campaigns should not take place in the South-West, a move the union described as an attempt to suppress opposing views. It further referenced a circulating audio in which he allegedly issued threats against a social media personality over political support.

The organisation condemned such actions, likening them to political intimidation, and accused the activist of acting beyond his authority by allegedly ordering individuals to be brought before him.

It also urged Igboho to redirect his efforts toward addressing security challenges in Kwara South, where it claimed armed groups have been terrorising communities. The group insisted that confronting these threats should take priority over political disputes.

Additionally, the union called on security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services, to intervene and caution the activist against making threats, emphasising that no individual is above the law.

The group concluded by urging public figures to respect democratic rights and allow citizens to freely express their political opinions without fear of intimidation.
