At least three people have lost their lives following a violent attack by armed bandits in Dangoro village, located in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident, which occurred late on March 28, 2026, saw heavily armed assailants storm the community through the Nahuche axis. According to the police, the attackers opened fire indiscriminately and set several houses and food storage facilities ablaze, causing widespread destruction.

Security operatives, alongside local vigilante members, responded quickly after receiving distress calls. They engaged the attackers in a gun battle, eventually forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

Despite the intervention, three individuals were confirmed dead, including a member of the local security group. Several others were injured in the attack—five people suffered gunshot wounds, while four sustained burns from the fires.

In addition to the loss of lives, the attackers destroyed homes, food silos, and livestock, including goats, worsening the humanitarian impact on the community.

All injured victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau, where they are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

The police have intensified efforts to track down those responsible, while the state command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property. Authorities also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and share useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
