On Wednesday night, armed bandits launched a violent attack in Southern Kaduna, killing one person and abducting multiple others, including children and a pregnant woman.
The incident took place in Zuturung Tintaah village, located within the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to a family source.
“A kidnapping occurred at the residence of Mr. Sunday Stephen Michael,” the source said. “During the raid, 48-year-old Mr. Yashim Raphael, a neighbor, was killed. Around ten people—including men, women, children, and a pregnant woman—were taken away by the attackers.”
Southern Kaduna has recently seen a rise in violent attacks. On Sunday, bandits attacked a wedding in Kukyer and Kahir villages, Kagarko Local Government Area, killing at least 13 people and abducting 28 others.
Community members reported that the attackers stormed the event, firing indiscriminately at guests. Residents, including David Yakubu, who compiled the names of the victims, have called for immediate intervention by security forces to prevent further bloodshed in the area.
Authorities and concerned citizens continue to monitor the situation as efforts to rescue the abducted individuals are underway.
