Gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olanike Ogundare from her residence in the Oke Agaye area of Ijedodo, Lagos State, after overpowering a security guard on duty.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday at No. 1 Olufemi Ogundare Street, where the attackers stormed the compound, held the guard at gunpoint, and whisked the victim away to an unknown location.
Residents said the operation appeared coordinated, raising fresh concerns about the growing boldness of kidnappers in residential communities within Lagos.
Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), have been informed, while community leaders and local security groups have also begun mobilising efforts to assist in the response.
Sources familiar with the case said the abductors have since contacted the family twice, demanding a ransom of ₦60 million for the victim’s release.
The kidnapping has sparked concern among residents, especially because it happened within a secured residential environment, prompting renewed calls for stronger intelligence-led policing and faster intervention.
Authorities have been urged to intensify efforts to rescue the victim safely and apprehend those responsible.
