The mother of Oghenemine Ogidi has called for full accountability following the fatal shooting of her son by a police officer in Effurun.
Drivetvnews gathered that Ogidi, popularly known as Mene or OG Millan, was reportedly shot on April 26, 2026, by Nuhu Usman, an Assistant Superintendent of Police. The incident occurred after he was arrested over allegations linked to a parcel said to contain a firearm and ammunition.
A video showing the young man in handcuffs, pleading before he was shot, quickly spread online, sparking widespread public outrage.
Speaking during a media interview, his mother said although no punishment could bring her son back, she wants to see justice served. She insisted that everyone involved in the incident should be investigated and held responsible, including those present at the scene and others connected to the case.
She also called for a thorough probe into how the alleged weapon was transported, urging authorities to question individuals linked to its movement.
The Delta State Police Command has since confirmed the arrest of the officer involved, who has been transferred to Abuja for further disciplinary action. Authorities also stated that he is expected to face murder charges.
The Commissioner of Police described the shooting as unlawful and extended condolences to the bereaved family, assuring that justice would be pursued.
