Troops of Sector 2 under the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed three suspected terrorists and recovered several weapons during a patrol operation in Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out on May 7 in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas as part of ongoing military efforts to restrict terrorist activities in the state.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops encountered armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, leading to a fierce gun battle.
The statement explained that the troops overpowered the attackers with superior firepower, forcing the remaining terrorists to flee after suffering casualties.
Security operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally made handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition after the operation.
The task force confirmed that no soldier was injured or killed during the mission.
Military authorities described the operation as part of continued efforts to tackle terrorism and other criminal activities in the North-West, praising the troops for their resilience and professionalism.
Residents were also urged to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to strengthen ongoing operations in the region.
