The Redeemed Christian Church of God has confirmed that it is awaiting the outcome of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against one of its pastors in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The pastor, said to be attached to the RCCG Strongtower Parish near Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, came under public attention after a female student accused him during a church service of attempted rape and sexual coercion.
In a viral video, the lady alleged that the pastor invited her to his residence under the pretext of collecting food before allegedly making unwanted sexual advances toward her despite repeated refusals.
She further claimed the pastor demanded oral sex after allegedly failing to force himself on her and boasted about similar encounters with other female church members.
The church’s Publicity Secretary, Lanre Oyegbola, confirmed awareness of the allegations and said the church would wait for the outcome of investigations by the school authorities before taking further action.
He added that the matter was still under investigation and declined to confirm whether the pastor had been suspended.
Following the incident, other women reportedly came forward with similar allegations involving abuse of pastoral authority and unwanted sexual advances.
The spokesperson for LAUTECH, Lekan Fadeyi, said the institution was yet to receive official details of the case, while the Oyo State Police Command also stated it had not been formally briefed on the matter.
Christian leader Bishop Stephen Adegbite called for a proper investigation, stressing that anyone found guilty should be held accountable while ensuring fairness and justice throughout the process.
