Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The declaration was made during a large political rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where supporters, party members, and political stakeholders gathered to witness the unveiling of the “Reset Nigeria Movement.”
The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APM. The agreement was supervised by Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, at the PDP South-West Secretariat in Ibadan.
Speaking during the rally, Makinde said Nigeria needs a new direction driven by responsible leadership, stronger institutions, and policies that will improve the lives of citizens.
According to him, the Reset Nigeria agenda will focus on economic development, employment opportunities, healthcare, education, infrastructure, security, power sector reforms, and institutional growth.
He stated that the country can no longer continue with old political methods, stressing the need to rebuild public confidence and create a system that works for everyone.
The rally attracted several political figures and supporters, including former Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum.
