The Oyo State Fire Service has rescued a 75-year-old man who accidentally fell into a deep well in Igbo Ologun along Irawo Road in Atisbo Local Government Area of the state.
Drivetvnews gathered that the incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening while the elderly man was trying to retrieve a bucket used for fetching water.
Confirming the development, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency and Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Service Reform, Moroof Akinwande, said the agency received an emergency call around 6:26 pm.
Following the distress alert, a rescue team led by Chief Fire Superintendent Ayegbokiki Samuel was immediately dispatched to the scene with the necessary rescue equipment.
According to the agency, the victim was successfully rescued alive from the well and later handed over to officers from the Saki Divisional Police Headquarters led by ASP Yusuf Olarinoye.
The fire service also advised residents to ensure wells are properly covered to prevent similar accidents and encouraged the public to contact emergency responders promptly during emergencies while providing accurate location details.
