A 30-year-old decorator, Esohe Aigbe, has been killed after being attacked by suspected assailants in the Ogida area of Benin City, Edo State.
The incident occurred on May 27 at Ojo Street, where Aigbe had reportedly gone to assist a friend in decorating a venue for a burial ceremony.
According to sources, she had completed the decoration work and was still at the venue when she was attacked with a machete by unidentified assailants.
Good Samaritans reportedly rushed her to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for treatment, but she later died from the severity of her injuries.
The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
Police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem disclosed that one suspect had already been arrested in connection with the killing, while efforts continued to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify any other persons involved.
Authorities have assured the public that the case is being thoroughly investigated.
