Four people have been confirmed dead following a road accident along the Ilesa-Akure Expressway at Omi Asoro Junction in Osun State.
The crash, which occurred on Thursday evening, also left 10 passengers injured, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The Osun Sector Public Education Officer of the FRSC, Agnes Ogungbemi, confirmed the incident on Friday.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus carrying phone accessories and electronic appliances and a Suzuki mini-bus operating within Ilesa metropolis.
A trader near the scene said the Toyota bus was heading towards Akure when it collided with the mini-bus around 9 p.m. at Omi Asoro Junction.
FRSC officials said three victims — two adult men and a female child — died instantly at the scene, while another passenger later died on Friday morning.
The injured victims included seven adults and three children. The remains of the deceased were deposited at Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa for further procedures.
Ogungbemi also disclosed that the driver of the mini-bus involved in the crash reportedly had no driver’s licence.
