Members of the Take-It-Back Movement on Monday staged a peaceful protest at Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State, calling for urgent action over the worsening security situation in the state and the continued captivity of abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area.

Drivetvnews gathered that the demonstrators gathered at the busy intersection, urging both the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and tackle the growing wave of kidnappings affecting communities across Oyo State.

Carrying placards with messages such as “Security for all, not for a few,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “We demand safer roads and communities,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students,” the protesters expressed concern over the increasing insecurity facing residents.

Speaking during the demonstration, one of the protesters said citizens were becoming increasingly frustrated by the persistent security challenges confronting the country.

According to the protester, the action was intended to draw attention to the hardship and fear many Nigerians currently face due to insecurity. He stressed that residents of Oyo State were deeply worried about the safety of their communities and demanded stronger government intervention.

The protest comes amid widespread outrage over the abduction of pupils, students and teachers during attacks on schools and nearby communities in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area.

The kidnappings have generated anxiety among parents, residents and community leaders, who continue to appeal for swift action to secure the safe return of those held captive.

Relatives of the victims have repeatedly called on the Oyo State Government and security agencies to strengthen rescue operations and ensure that the abductees are reunited with their families.

The demonstration also followed a series of emotional appeals from family members, who have expressed growing concern over the prolonged captivity of the pupils and teachers.
