National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has said that although he never had a formal education, his life experience and practical knowledge have given him greater understanding than many university graduates.
Speaking at the 50th birthday celebration and album launch of Islamic singer Hafsat Adegoke in Alausa, Lagos, MC Oluomo reflected on his humble beginnings, revealing that he started working as a bus conductor at a young age and was already supporting his family with his earnings.
According to him, years of hard work, discipline and commitment enabled him to rise through the ranks to become the leader of the transport union.
He noted that his success was earned through dedication rather than luck, stressing that practical experience can be just as valuable as formal education.
MC Oluomo also highlighted the importance he places on education by pointing to the achievements of his children, whom he said have become professionals, including a doctor, a lawyer and an engineer, all based in the United States.
He recalled his long-standing friendship with Fuji musician Saheed Osupa, saying they had known each other since childhood and that the singer was familiar with his early struggles.
The transport union leader further criticised fathers who neglect the welfare of their wives and children, describing such behaviour as irresponsible. He lamented that many women now shoulder the burden of paying school fees, rent, feeding and other family expenses because some husbands have abandoned their responsibilities.
He also warned against men who prioritise children outside their marriages while neglecting their immediate families, saying such actions often have lasting consequences.
