A viral video has sparked reactions online after Funke Akindele appeared to ignore fellow actress Toyin Abraham during a movie premiere.
The moment reportedly took place on Sunday at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, hosted by Iyabo Ojo at the Balmoral Event Centre in Lagos.
In the trending clip, Abraham is seen approaching Akindele in an attempt to greet her, but Akindele does not respond and looks away. Earlier in the scene, Abraham had exchanged greetings with Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, and others present. While Ojo and Aigbe acknowledged her warmly, Akindele’s reaction appeared noticeably different.
The incident has attracted attention, especially because it comes shortly after Akindele publicly encouraged unity within the Nigerian film industry. At the premiere of Love and New Notes by Timini Egbuson, she had urged stakeholders to prioritise collaboration over rivalry.
Speaking at the event, she emphasised that success in Nollywood should be built on mutual support rather than competition. She also praised the film’s production quality, highlighting its storytelling, visuals, and performances.
Akindele went on to commend several actors, including Eniola Badmus and Odunlade Adekola, noting their growth and versatility on screen.
The contrasting situations—her recent message about unity and the viral clip from the premiere—have since fueled discussions among fans and observers within the entertainment space.
