The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) branch in Ogbomoso, has declared a total and indefinite strike over the failure to implement an agreement with the Federal Government and the payment of outstanding staff entitlements.
The strike took effect from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the university management.
In a statement dated October 29 and signed by the branch chairperson, Professor Olujimi Dada, and the secretary, Dr Soji Arinola, the union said the decision was reached during an emergency congress held on Wednesday, October 28.
The union described the industrial action as “total, comprehensive and indefinite,” indicating an escalation of its dispute with the university management.
According to the union, the strike followed the failure to resolve the issues outlined in its ultimatum, including the non-implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU.
The union also listed the payment of outstanding staff entitlements among the unresolved issues that prompted the industrial action.
The development raises concerns about academic activities at LAUTECH as the union begins its indefinite strike.
