President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, praising security agencies for ending their 56-day captivity without casualties among the victims.
Drivetvnews gathered In a statement issued by the Presidency, Tinubu commended the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for conducting a sustained rescue operation that led to the safe release of the victims, the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers, and the neutralisation of several others.
The President acknowledged the pain endured by the abducted children, their teachers, and their families throughout the ordeal, describing the rescue as a major relief for the nation.
He also applauded the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue efforts and urged the state to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents.
President Tinubu pledged that justice would be served for the victims, including the family of Michael Oyedokun, the abducted teacher who was reportedly killed by the kidnappers.
He further directed relevant emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide immediate medical care, counselling, and other relief assistance to the rescued children and teachers.
