Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has officially assumed office as the new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), succeeding Afam Osigwe at the expiration of his tenure.
Drivetvnews gathered that Badejo-Okusanya was sworn in by the immediate past NBA President during an event held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday.
As part of the transition, Osigwe formally handed over the leadership of the association to his successor and presented her with a handover note.
Addressing Badejo-Okusanya during the ceremony, Osigwe said the document contained an initial summary of the outgoing administration’s activities, adding that a more comprehensive handover would be provided later.
“This is your handover note. A more comprehensive one will be given to you later. I hereby now bow out,” Osigwe said.
Badejo-Okusanya becomes the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association, taking charge of the professional body after Osigwe’s tenure came to an end.
Her journey with the NBA dates back to 2002, when she attended her first annual conference shortly after being called to the Nigerian Bar.
Her assumption of office marks the beginning of a new administration at the NBA, with expectations that she will continue to advance the interests of members of the legal profession and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s justice system.
