The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has commenced mobilisation efforts among All Progressives Congress members and stakeholders in Oyo State to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and victory for other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Tegbe launched the statewide campaign in Ibadan on Sunday through strategic meetings with party leaders, executives and community stakeholders from Ibadan South-East and Ibadan North Local Government Areas. He urged members to unite and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
The minister stressed the need to extend the campaign to every ward and polling unit across the state, noting that the party’s success would depend on unity, public engagement and convincing voters of the benefits of continuity under Tinubu’s administration.
He declared that the APC would make every effort to ensure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, adding that all the party’s candidates would receive full support during the elections.
Defending the President’s second-term bid, Tegbe said ongoing reforms in the power sector were beginning to produce improvements. He expressed optimism that continued federal government interventions would boost electricity supply and improve residents’ living conditions.
The minister also urged APC members in Oyo State to set aside their differences, strengthen internal cooperation and work together to secure victory for Tinubu and other party candidates.
Speaking on federal government projects in the state, Tegbe disclosed that solar mini-grids would be installed in several locations, while electrification projects in Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa were approaching completion.
According to him, the projects are expected to tackle persistent electricity shortages in the affected communities and improve access to a more dependable power supply.
Tegbe maintained that the government’s efforts extended beyond politics, explaining that the ongoing electrification projects and planned solar mini-grids were intended to expand electricity access and stimulate economic activities across Oyo State.
He expressed hope that completing the projects would bring relief to communities that had experienced inadequate electricity supply for years.
The APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, who attended the meeting, expressed confidence in Tegbe’s ability to fulfil his responsibilities and called on party members to support him with prayers.
Other APC leaders at the meetings also voiced confidence in the minister’s capacity to deliver, while reaffirming their commitment to the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
