Suspected bandits carried out separate attacks resulting in fatalities, including a soldier, in Kwande and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State.
Incidents occurred between Saturday and Sunday in various communities including Udedeku in Maav-Ya, Mkoonmom district in Mbaikyor, Turan Jato-Aka, and Ochumekwu.
In Udedeku, Kwande, numerous casualties were reported with many individuals missing following the bandit incursion.
Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhia, Force Commander of Operations Whirl Stroke, confirmed the death of a soldier during an attack in Ochumekwu, Apa LGA. Troops retaliated, resulting in the deaths of three assailants and injuries to several others. An AK47 rifle and ammunition were recovered.
Regarding the Kwande incident, OPWS Commander stated ongoing efforts to clear suspected foreign bandits from the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, mentioned reports of an invasion in Kwande forest but did not confirm any killings.
