The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Plateau State has raised concerns over a series of attacks targeting cattle in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

In a petition addressed to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the Department of State Services, and the leadership of Operation Enduring Peace, the group alleged repeated incidents of cattle killing and poisoning across several communities.

The petition, signed by the state chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, detailed multiple cases recorded within a short period in April 2026. According to the association, cattle were poisoned and killed on different dates in areas such as Rakung Village, Lokojora, and the Nding axis, suggesting a pattern of coordinated attacks.

The group described the incidents as a serious threat to the livelihoods of herders, warning that they also pose risks to food security and peaceful coexistence in the region. It expressed concern that despite the frequency of the attacks, no arrests had been made and no compensation provided to affected members.

MACBAN called on security agencies to investigate the incidents thoroughly, bring those responsible to justice, and take steps to prevent further occurrences. It also urged authorities to compensate victims for their losses.

While appealing for calm among its members, the association warned that continued inaction could undermine trust in government institutions and ongoing peace efforts.

The group has previously accused some local youth groups of involvement in the attacks, but representatives of the accused parties have denied any responsibility.
