Federal Government Takes Action Against 28 Illegal Digital Money-Lending Apps (Full List)

In a bid to clean up the digital money lending sector, the Federal Government has taken action against 28 illegal digital money-lending apps, as revealed in the latest report by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The FCCPC’s effort to weed out unscrupulous digital money lenders has resulted in the removal of these 28 apps, increasing the number of delisted digital money lending apps from nine to 37. At the same time, the list of approved digital money lending apps has grown from 154 to 164.

The FCCPC has also identified 54 digital money lending apps that are under its watchful eye as part of its ongoing efforts to protect Nigerian consumers from harassment by lenders.

This action comes as a response to the Commission’s determination to put an end to the harassment faced by Nigerians from these illegal digital money lenders. In July and August, the FCCPC had similarly cracked down on illegal digital money-lending apps.
