The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Tinubu about the possible religious tensions surrounding the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said the same-faith ticket should be handled carefully to avoid creating further religious tension across the country.
The cleric expressed concern that some Nigerians were already unhappy with the arrangement and urged the President and his team to exercise caution in addressing issues that could arise from it.
He also warned that the issue could extend beyond the presidential contest to states where political parties adopt similar same-faith arrangements.
According to Ayodele, political leaders should avoid actions that could deepen religious divisions or create tension across the country.
He further commented on Tinubu’s political prospects in several states ahead of 2027, saying the President would face challenges in some parts of the country.
Ayodele specifically mentioned Lagos, Oyo and Osun in the South-West, as well as Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Niger, Bayelsa, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Benue and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said Tinubu would need to work extensively in those areas and address issues that could affect his political support ahead of the election.
The comments are Ayodele’s political assessment and warning, rather than an established prediction of the election outcome.
