The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the reported abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Drivetvnews gathered that the suspects were identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali. According to the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, they are assisting investigators with information that could help unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident was reported on September 24 after residents informed the police that armed men had invaded a family compound at Layeri Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, around 4:20 a.m.
Preliminary investigation indicated that three armed men allegedly forced their way into Peter’s room and took him away from the premises.
The suspects reportedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest with a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone.
Following the report, police operatives visited the area and commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
The police said the arrests had provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other individuals allegedly connected to the abduction.
Ayanlade added that the command, working with other security agencies, had intensified efforts to locate and safely rescue Peter while tracking other members of the suspected gang who remain at large.
The police urged residents of the affected communities to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to secure the area and resolve the case.
