The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, in Layeri Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, Oriire Local Government Area.
Drivetvnews gathered that the suspects were identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali. Police said they are currently assisting investigators with information that could help unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday.
According to the statement, three armed men invaded a family compound around 4:20am on September 24 and forcibly took Peter from his room.
The assailants reportedly fled through the National Reserve Forest with the victim’s Hajue motorcycle and mobile phone.
The incident was reported to the police at about 5:50pm the same day, after which operatives visited the scene and commenced investigations.
Ayanlade said the arrest of the two suspects had provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other members of the gang.
He added that the police, working with other security agencies, had intensified efforts to locate and safely rescue Peter while pursuing the fleeing suspects.
The command urged residents in the affected communities to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in their operations.
Ayanlade also assured residents that the police remained committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace across Oyo State.
