The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has announced plans to make additional appointments as it expands its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Drivetvnews gathered that the council disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Strategic Communication, Phrank Shaibu, following the release of its initial list of officials.
Shaibu said the current list was only the beginning of the campaign structure, noting that consultations were still ongoing and more responsibilities would be assigned as the campaign expands across the country.
He also assured supporters whose names were not included in the first list that their contributions had not been overlooked.
According to him, the campaign intends to build on the support of party members, experienced political leaders, professionals, young people and other Nigerians willing to participate in its activities.
The council said it would unveil additional zonal and state structures, senior appointments and other organisational levels reaching wards and polling units nationwide.
The announcement came two days after ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar unveiled his Presidential Campaign Council, with Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as deputy chairman, and Senator Austin Akobundu as Director-General and Campaign Manager.
Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi was also named as Atiku’s running mate, while Dele Momodu was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Media and Communications Directorate and Dino Melaye Deputy Director-General of the Contact and Mobilisation Directorate.
However, former CBN Deputy Governor Kingsley Moghalu later rejected his inclusion in the council’s Policy Team, saying he was not consulted before his name was announced.
Meanwhile, Shaibu said the campaign was developing policy proposals addressing issues such as the cost of living, food security, agriculture, security, energy, employment, industrialisation, education, healthcare, infrastructure, housing and governance.
He added that technology, innovation, social protection, natural resources, environmental issues and human capital development would also receive attention.
The campaign council described its approach as a people-driven national campaign and said it would continue to expand its structure by involving Nigerians willing to contribute to its activities.
