President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to give his administration more time to complete the programmes and reforms it has initiated.
Drivetvnews gathered that Tinubu made the appeal on Friday during a special Juma’at prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
The President, who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said his administration was working to address what he described as mistakes and missed opportunities inherited from previous governments.
Abbas delivered Tinubu’s message at the event and urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about the country’s economic recovery and development.
He said Nigeria’s 66 years since independence reflected a long and mixed journey, marked by both challenges and opportunities.
The President called on citizens not to lose hope, assuring them that peace and development would return as the government continued implementing its reforms.
According to Tinubu, the administration was tackling longstanding challenges and addressing what he described as the cumulative mistakes and missed opportunities of previous administrations.
He further appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the government, insisting that the country was moving in the right direction.
Tinubu said Nigerians had made significant sacrifices for the country and expressed optimism that the ongoing reforms would eventually produce positive results.
He therefore urged citizens to give his administration additional time to complete what it had started.
The 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations are being held on a low-key basis, with the Federal Government organising religious and civic activities ahead of the October 1 anniversary.
