Primate Babatunde Ayodele has advised President Bola Tinubu to cancel the October 1 Independence Day parade, warning that holding the event could expose the country to danger.
The cleric made the statement in a video shared on X ahead of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration.
Ayodele said, “October 1st, President Tinubu should cancel the parade. If he attempts to go ahead with it, there is danger in it.”
He also cautioned Nigerians against accepting money or other incentives from politicians in exchange for their support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The cleric urged voters to make their decisions based on their conscience and the candidates they believe would serve the interests of the people.
Ayodele said Nigerians should remain vigilant and prayerful as the country approaches the election period.
