In a recent operation, Edo State Police Command detained a 23-year-old secondary school graduate, Rukevwe George, on charges of possessing firearms.
Rukevwe was apprehended in Benin, the capital city of Edo State. He had in his possession an automatic foreign-made double barrel gun and a locally-made single-barrel gun.
Claiming the firearms belonged to his absconded master, Ralph, Rukevwe, attired in military camouflage, was unable to account for the acquisition of the attire.
Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, disclosed the surge in criminal activities in the state, underscoring the necessity for stringent action. Following an interrogation and subsequent search, the two firearms were uncovered.
Adegboye emphasized the urgency in apprehending Ralph, who remains at large, affirming the commitment of law enforcement to bring him to justice. He cautioned against individuals like Rukevwe exploiting military disguises for criminal endeavors, ensuring swift prosecution for both him and his accomplice.
