The Ogun State Police Command has taken swift action by arresting Femi Onayemi, a teacher accused of defiling a 13-year-old girl in Obada-Oko. The suspect had been hired by the victim’s parents to provide educational support in 2023. However, he allegedly took advantage of this position of trust and committed the heinous crime on June 9, 2024.
The victim’s parents were shocked and distraught when they discovered what had happened. They immediately reported the incident to the police on June 12, 2024, leading to Onayemi’s prompt arrest. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect had confessed to the crime.
According to Odutola, the suspect and victim attended the same church and had a tutoring relationship, which made the betrayal of trust even more disturbing. The police have demonstrated their commitment to protecting minors and ensuring justice is served in Ogun State.
This incident serves as a reminder for parents and guardians to be vigilant and monitor their children’s interactions with adults, even if they appear trustworthy. The police are urging anyone with information about similar crimes to come forward and report them.
