Pastor Samuel Akpan-Isong, the General Overseer of Champions for Christ Chapel in Asaba, Delta State, has urged President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, governors, and philanthropists to address food insecurity and other socioeconomic challenges to alleviate the current hunger crisis faced by Nigerians.

During a charitable event in Asaba where he distributed rice, bread, garri, cash, and other food items worth millions of naira to needy individuals including a 90-year-old woman and single mothers, Akpan-Isong emphasized the importance of the ruling class not turning away from the plight of the poor. He stressed the need for generosity, no matter how small, towards those in need, stating, “When people are happy, you are happy too, but when they suffer, you share in their pain.”

Akpan-Isong clarified that his charitable actions were motivated by compassion and a desire to uplift the less fortunate amidst prevailing economic challenges, rather than by political aspirations or personal gain. He cited the example of Jesus Christ’s compassion towards the poor and stressed the importance of collective support during times of hardship.

The beneficiaries, including 90-year-old Roseline Aniojo and single mother Rosemary Patrick, expressed profound gratitude and joy for the Pastor’s timely assistance, acknowledging that the food donations would significantly ease their families’ hunger.
