The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Olabomi, has denied allegations of inciting the public against Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, regarding the Aragbiji Chieftaincy Declaration.

On Friday, the monarch criticized the state government’s decision to reinstate the Lagbua family into the Chieftaincy Declaration, describing it as a move that could destabilize the community.

In response, the state government accused him of attempting to mislead the public and stir opposition against the governor.

However, while addressing the issue at his palace on Sunday, Oba Olabomi clarified that his statements were not meant to show disrespect to Governor Adeleke or the state government but were simply an expression of his concerns within a democratic framework.

“I want to make it clear that I have the utmost respect for His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the State Executive Council. I would never contemplate undermining constituted authority,” he stated.

The monarch stressed that his words had been misinterpreted.

“My statement on Friday was made in the spirit of democracy, which allows individuals and communities to express their views on important matters. It was never intended to attack any individual or institution, particularly the Governor or the State Executive Council.”

Oba Olabomi urged Governor Adeleke and the State Executive Council to reconsider their decision on the Aragbiji Chieftaincy Declaration.

“Throughout my 17-year reign as the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, I have remained committed to peace within my domain and across the state. I would never encourage the public to rise against the Governor or the State Executive Council,” he affirmed.

The monarch reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining peace and called for a constructive dialogue to resolve the chieftaincy issue.
