The government under President Bola Tinubu has strongly criticized the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for his remarks on the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding the February 25 election petitions. Obi, in a press conference, accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of incompetence and criticized the Supreme Court for not declaring him the winner. In response, the presidency urged Obi to focus on constructive issues and not attack the judiciary. The statement emphasized Obi’s past benefit from judicial rulings and criticized his divisive campaign tactics. The government encouraged Obi to engage positively or prepare for the 2027 elections.
