Lagos police dismiss viral claims of ritual killings at Thirty 8 Restaurant, launch manhunt for woman behind false video. Investigation finds no evidence.
The Lagos State Police Command has begun a search for a woman featured in a viral video alleging that ritual killings and human body part sales were taking place at the Thirty 8 Restaurant on Airport Road, Lagos.
In the video, the unidentified woman claimed she was locked inside the restaurant’s restroom during her visit and went on to describe the establishment as a “dungeon,” suggesting that many people had been killed there.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, however, dismissed the allegations in an official statement on Thursday, calling them “false, baseless, and capable of causing public panic.”
According to Hundeyin, Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a detailed investigation. Findings from the probe revealed no evidence supporting the claims made in the viral footage.
“The investigation has conclusively shown that the allegations are entirely false and without any merit,” the statement read.
The command urged the public to disregard the video, warning against spreading misinformation that could endanger public peace. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the woman and other individuals responsible for creating and sharing the video.
The police also appealed to anyone with credible information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Command’s Complaint Response Unit via 09111111150 or 09111111151.
Hundeyin assured Lagos residents of the police’s commitment to maintaining safety and encouraged citizens to verify information before sharing it online.
