South African police have arrested five suspects, including two women, over the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 25-year-old e-hailing driver in Cape Town.
Drivetvnews gathered that the South African Police Service said the victim was rescued after his brother alerted authorities that the suspects had contacted him and demanded R4,000 for the driver’s release.
Police reportedly tracked the victim using the vehicle’s tracking system and located him at Southampton Road in Heathfield.
According to the police, the driver had met one of the female suspects through his e-hailing business the previous week. They exchanged contact details and remained in communication before arranging to meet.
Police alleged that the suspect and her accomplices kidnapped the driver after the meeting, while the two female suspects were accused of sexually assaulting him.
The five suspects comprise two women aged 23 and 34, and three males aged 16, 42 and 48.
The suspects were expected to appear before the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 14, 2026.
