OPay has dismissed a viral social media claim alleging that the company would shut down its operations on September 1, 2026, describing the report as false.
Drivetvnews gathered that the rumour caused concern among some customers, with a few reportedly transferring funds to other accounts after seeing the circulating message.
OPay, however, reassured users that it remains fully operational. In a statement shared on its official X account, the company urged customers to rely only on verified OPay communications and avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
The company said it is “here, and going nowhere,” while encouraging users to carefully verify information before sharing it.
The development comes amid calls from some customers for OPay to strengthen communication and engagement with its users to build greater confidence.
