At least seven residents have been killed in a fresh attack by suspected terrorists in the Matazu/Musawa axis of Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, despite ongoing government-imposed security restrictions aimed at curbing violent attacks.

Drivetvnews gathered that the assault occurred on Thursday, according to local sources, with all seven victims buried in line with Islamic traditions shortly after the incident.

The attack comes despite measures introduced by the Katsina State Government, including the suspension of telecommunications services, a ban on motorcycle movement, and restrictions on the sale of petrol in jerrycans across parts of the area. These policies were intended to disrupt the operations of armed groups, but residents say the attackers continue to strike with little resistance.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the persistent insecurity affecting communities in Katsina, where repeated attacks have forced many residents to abandon their homes.

In a related development, a displaced resident, Aliyu Hassan, recently recounted surviving a brutal attack by suspected bandits in Batagarawa Local Government Area. According to his account, the attackers allegedly poured petrol on him and set him on fire after demanding money and valuables while he was working on his farm.

Hassan said he managed to survive by rolling repeatedly on the ground until the flames went out. He was later rescued by a passerby and taken to several hospitals for treatment before receiving medical care.

The victim, who now lives in a displacement camp in Katsina town, said he and his family remain unable to return home due to ongoing insecurity in their community.
