The Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has stepped up grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 following the donation of 32 campaign vehicles by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Drivetvnews gathered that the vehicles were unveiled during the inauguration of the movement’s Oyo State chapter at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly Liberty Stadium, in Ibadan.
The state coordinator of the movement and Deputy Director of Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Akinola Kazeem, expressed confidence that Oyo State would secure more votes for Tinubu in 2027 than it did in the 2023 presidential election.
Kazeem urged members of the movement and All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters to intensify their grassroots activities to achieve the target.
He said Oyo State recorded the highest number of votes for Tinubu in the South-West during the 2023 election and expressed the ambition of securing the highest number nationwide in 2027.
According to him, the 32 vehicles were fitted with sound systems, two large campaign stickers each and generators to support door-to-door mobilisation.
Representing Tompolo at the event, Chief Kestin Pondi said the vehicles were donated to strengthen the movement’s operations and improve voter engagement across the state.
The donation is expected to provide logistical support as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, pledged to grant autonomy to local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) from May 29, 2027, if elected governor.
His promise placed local government autonomy among the key governance issues discussed at the gathering.
Other dignitaries present included the movement’s coordinator, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku; APC Central Senatorial Chairman, Dr Joshua Oyebanji; Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe; and Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete.
Several APC House of Representatives candidates also attended, including Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, and Hon. Folake Oshinowo-Olunloyo of Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, alongside other party leaders and supporters.
The inauguration and vehicle donation form part of the movement’s efforts to expand its grassroots presence and coordinate door-to-door campaigns in support of Tinubu and other APC candidates in Oyo State.
The mobilisation drive comes amid broader political engagements by the Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari. The council has also visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Alaafin of Oyo as part of its engagements with traditional institutions ahead of the 2027 elections.
